 nopCommerce Storefront General Questions need answered
  • I need to know if you want products setup in which of the formats - for all items (I've also included what I see as pros or cons for each item and you may come up with more as you review).  Please note also, that you can choose different ways to display or setup any of your products.  So any of the following or a combination or the following can be used.
    • option1 - each product is setup with and icon to the left of each customization option.  The customer would have to enter the information for each option they choose, click on the ADD TO CART button, which adds it to the shopping cart, then would have to click on the CONTINUE button to be returned to the item they were ordering.
      • PROS:  Customer can put together an order with a quantity more than 1 and only have to type the Musicians name in once.  Having icons for the customization options are more of a "quick identity" feature.
      • CONS:  May be confusing for customers.  Also is alot more work for you to set up initially.
    • option2 - same as the setup above EXCEPT, there are no icons to the left of each custom option
      • PROS:  Customer can put together an order with a quantity more than 1 and only have to type the Musicians name in once.
      • CONS:  May be confusing for customers.  Also is alot more work for you to set up initially
    • option3 - All choices for customization, and "radio buttons" for the frame choice of black or white are all contained on the same item line.
      • PROS:  Simple straight forward purchasing option.  Easier for you to setup then choices 1 or 2.
      • CONS:  May look "messier" than the multiple customization options, if there are lots of options - example: "Enter schhol initials, school colors, musician(s) names, date/year" etc.

Also - some general information about the way the website layout and content is setup, and additional questions I need answered:


  • The logo size is limited to the size you see on the store banner (top of each page).  I can put a larger picture of your logo in one of the "news" sections in the left hand column.  Just let me know if you want this.
  • I need a complete list of store product categories and sub-categories.   I will setup some sample category placeholder pictures and place them in some of the categories. 
    • We can use some or all of the images in the categories, or we can change or replace all of them.  For any of the ones that you want replaced, added or changed - they need to be in 125 x 103 px JPG format.  I will insert them for you into the categories after I receive them.  You can send them individually or in groups via email, or zip a bunch of them up and send them all at once.
  • LEFT COLUMN SECTION on all pages (these are listed on TOPICS in the administrator panel, which I will explain during training):  
    • Under INFORMATION (left hand column).  
      • I will need text you wish to see in the ABOUT US section.
      • BLOG link section - you can keep what is in the blog and add to it whenever you want to add to it, or we can remove it if you wish.  Currently yours is set to the default - visitors CAN comment.  Do you want Blog, do you want customers to be able to comment?
      • SHIPPING and RETURNS section - I will need text relating to what your shipping and returns policy is.
      • PRIVACY POLICY - need text you wish to use in this section, or direction on whether to remove the section.
      • CONDITIONS OF USE section - need text you wish to use in this section, or direction on whether to remove the section.
  • NEWS (bottom of home page) - This is similar to "what's happening", "what's new" and announcement sections.  You can add to what is here, change text, or delete the section entirely.  Please note, you can also choose to allow customers to comment or not.  Currently yours is set to the default - visitors CAN comment.  Do you want NEWS section, do you want customers to be able to comment?
  • Additional sections can be added -
    • Here are pre-set sections that you can choose from (not seen in your website yet) - let me know if you want any of the following:
      • Visitor Polls - self explanatory
      • Forums - I can explain if you have any questions
      • Affiliate program - you can setup an affiliate program to pay commissions to those who send referrals to your website (similar to Commission Junction, Performics, Double Click, etc.)
      • Promotions can be setup as you determine what those would be.
      • Discounts can be setup as you determine what those would be.
      • Quantity price breaks can be setup as you determine
      • Free shipping can be setup on any or all items
      • SECTIONS of your choice - just let me know what sections you want to see, and provide me with the text for those sections.
  • Do you wish to have the "EMAIL TO A FRIEND" option show for the items?  This option is on by default, but I can shut it off.  It is a global default, so it's on or off for all items.
  • Do you want the ADD TO COMPARE LIST option showing?  This option is on by default, but I can shut it off.  It is a global default, so it's on or off for all items.
  • Do you want the "FILTER BY PRICE" option enabled?  If so, what ranges to you want (example $1-25 usd, $26-50 usd, $50+).  This option is on by default, but I can shut it off.  It is NOT global for individual products, so a range could be set for certain items you choose.
  • Credit card processing company setup already?  If so, I will need to know what processing company you use, so I can set up the order processing links, and also need to know if you want to accept PAYPAL, GOOGLE CHECKOUT or any other similar ecommerce checkout options?  If you don't have a merchant account setup already, below are the options preset, but additional can be setup.

    • Also need to know if you want to accept the following: Purchase Order, Cash On Delivery, Check / Money Order
  • Which methods of shipping do you want to use in your storefront - UPS, USPS, others - if so which ones?
  • Do you want your storefront linked to any other advertising or internet online store mediums - example - some company's storefront items are also available for purchase through AMAZON, EBAY STORE, FROOGLE (Google linked), etc.
  • Which countries besides the US do you want to sell to, if any?
  • Do you need additional languages? Several are available for the menu layouts, but text translation for your text areas would have to be provided to me.
